Reading Day Celebration

 

REPORT ON READING DAY CELEBRATIONS

As a part of reading day celebrations, IQAC in collaboration with Nava@e-Tech and Women Cell had organized a programme “Empowering Minds and Technologies: Reading Day Celebrations” at Navajyothi College of Teacher Education for Women, Olarikkara, Thrissur on 19th June, 2024 at 9.30 am at Multipurpose Hall.  Announcement, Prayer, Welcome Speech, Vote of Thanks etc. was done by the members of Women Cell. Reading Day message was given by Mrs. Darsana T V, Asst. Professor in Malayalam, Navajyothi College of Teacher Education for Women, Olarikkara. A collection of books written by women writers were collected from each optional classes and donated to Libraian Sr. Therese Jacob by the representatives of Women cell and Nava@e-Tech members Ms. Anitta Paul, and Ms. Agnes Jos C.

A reading competition and a poem writing competition was conducted under the initiative of Nava@e-Tech on the same day. The poem writing competition took place on 19th June 2024 in the Old Auditorium at 9.30 am in both English and Malayalam languages. Eleven student teachers participated in the poem writing competition. The topic for English poem writing was ‘The Power of Her Digital Footprint’ and that of Malayalam poem writing was ‘സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയയിലെ സ്ത്രീ സാന്നിധ്യം. The winners selected by the judges were, Anjali Subeesh from English option for English poem writing and Devika T C from Malayalam option for Malayalam poem writing. Reading competition in Malayalam language took place in the Multipurpose Hall after the Reading Day message by Mrs. Darsana T V. A student from each option were given the chance to participate. There were five participants, who were selected to read in the order of their lot numbers taken by themselves. Sneha Joseph of Mathematics option was the winner. Prize distribution for the winners took place on 4th of July, 2024 at the Multipurpose Hall during the Morning Programme and was done by Fr. Fijo Alappadan.
